IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marion Donald
'Don' Wagner
March 13, 1938 – January 16, 2026
Marion Donald Wagner, 87, of Tyrone, peacefully passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026, surrounded by family. He was born on March 13, 1938, in Williamsburg, PA, the son of Katherine and Marion Wagner.
Don is survived by his siblings: Roy Hammond of Duncansville, Sarah Bowmaster of Williamsburg and Martha Scott of Spring Grove.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary Wagner, who passed away on Aug. 8, 2025.
Don was the devoted father of Mary Ellen (Ron) Barsanti, Marcia (Carl) Ferlitch and Donald (Jaime) Wagner. He was a proud grandfather to Alexandra Barsanti, Lindsey Hawk, Christopher Barsanti, Cassie Jo Harvey, Carl Ferlitch Jr., Haley Wagner, Payton Wagner and Jack Wagner; and blessed with five great-grandchildren.
A graduate of Penn State University, he was a longtime accountant with Westvaco Corp., retiring in 2002.
Beyond his professional life, basketball was one of Don's greatest passions. An accomplished player, he was particularly proud of his Williamsburg High School basketball team competing for the Pennsylvania State Championship in 1956-the same season he finished second in the state in scoring. His love for the sport continued throughout his life. He played well into his later years, including finishing third at the Senior Games Nationals at age 74 as a member of the Carlisle-based Penn Warriors. Don also shared his knowledge and enthusiasm for the game by coaching many local teams over the years.
Don was deeply committed to giving back to his community. He volunteered for many years with Meals on Wheels, forming lasting friendships and offering support to countless individuals. He was also an accomplished artist whose paintings were sold across the country.
Don was a proud member of the American Legion in Tyrone and a dedicated Deacon and longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Tyrone.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the noon service to honor Don's life Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone.
Don will be remembered for his kindness, his creativity, his generosity, his love of sport and the deep devotion he held for his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
