Marietta (Getz) Woomer, age 96, a guest at Arbutus Park Manor, Johnstown, died Tuesday, August 6,
2013 at the Manor. She was born March 13, 1917 in Tyrone, the daughter of Alfred and Blanche Colabine Getz. She
was preceded In death by her husband, The Reverend Dr. James A. Woomer, Sr. and also a son, Mark E. Woomer. She is
survived by two sons, James A. Woomer, Jr. and wife Muriel of Hollidaysburg, and The Reverend Dr. D. Darrell Woomer
and wife Audrey of Palmyra, PA. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Rebecca, wife of Mark McGee; James A Woomer
III; Katharine, wife of Matthew Ozio; David Woomer; and Laura Woomer. She is also survived by three great-
grandchildren: Noelle Ozio, Olivia Ozio and Emerson Woomer.
Marietta was a graduate of Tyrone Area High School, Class of 1935. Along with her husband, she served in
the Western PA Conference of the United Brethren Church and the Central PA Conference of the United Methodist
Church. After 45 years of service, they retired in 1979 and moved to North Naples, FL, and joined the North Naples
United Methodist Church where Rev. Woomer became the Visitation Minister for 20 years.
Marietta became active in the church women's group and in the Naples Park Area Association. She joined a
sewing group and became interested in needle work. During the next several years she embroidered many table cloths
and bed spreads as well as many counted cross stitch pictures. She gave them to family and friends.
There will be no public viewing, but the family will receive friends at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. in
Tyrone on Thursday from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral service for Marietta Getz Woomer will be Friday, August 9. 2013 at 11 AM
at the funeral home with Reverend Norman E. Huff presiding. Private interment will be made at Bald Eagle Cemetery at
the convenience of the family.
