Marian Shaffer, 65, of DuBois, entered into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Friday afternoon at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College, after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Huntingdon, the daughter of Joan (Shoemaker) and the late Paul Daugherty.

Marian is survived by her son Ronald Miller Jr. (wife, Brianne) of Tyrone; husband Bruce Shaffer, of DuBois; a daughter, Michelle (Shawn) Johnson and two grand children, Mackenzie and Jake of Tyrone; her mother, Joan Daugherty of Philipsburg; a Sister Patti (Larry) Newcomber of Port Matilda; and a brother Leon of Olanta;

She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Miller, her brother Paul Daugherty Jr, and father Paul Daugherty Sr

Marian enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends, gambling trips to New York, crocheting, and devoting herself to her faith. Most importantly, Marian was a strong and loving mother that cared deeply and wanted nothing more than to help and love everyone.

Marian showed tremendous courage and strength over the last several months through her battle with cancer. She was optimistic and she spent her final days protecting and loving her family. She was the most courageous woman you could have ever met and will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

A private memorial service will be held at the discretion of the family, in the coming weeks.
