Walk
August 24, 1925 – January 8, 2021
Lois M. Walk, 95, longtime resident of Port Matilda died January 8th, 2021 at Epworth Manor, Tyrone. Mrs. Walk was born August 24, 1925 in Bakers Summit, a daughter of Claude and Laura (Appleman) Dick. On August 29, 1947 in Smethport she married Cecil P. Walk who preceded her in death February 15, 1998.
Surviving are three sons; Steven L. and wife Lois of Roaring Spring, Joseph R. and wife Nancy of Martinsburg, Brian D. and wife Karen of Port Matilda, sixteen grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the last of her generation preceded in death by brothers Doyle and Elwood Dick and sisters Elda Wiser, Vera Albright, Miriam, Arlene and Alverna Dick.
She was a member of the Port Matilda Baptist Church. In 1943 she graduated from Roaring Spring High School and worked at the Sylvania plant supporting the war effort.
Lois was a lifelong homemaker, enjoying a good laugh, making homemade bread for family and friends and efficiently managing a lively household with three boys and a husband. There were always homemade cookies in the cookie jar for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She frequently sat at her piano and played the old hymns which were so dear to her. Music was important in her house and there was usually a song played on the radio from various Gospel radio stations.
Christian principles continually guided her thoughts and deeds. Her church friends were like family and became a reliable source of strength to her.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Port Matilda Baptist Church, 207 Main St., Port Matilda, Pa. 16870.
