Lawrence A. Hamer, 96 of Tyrone, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022. He was born in Tyrone on February 27, 1926, the son of Arlie and Anna (Harnish) Hamer. On June 13, 1948 at the Tyrone Episcopal Church he married Irene Hessler who survives. Also surviving are three daughters: Sharon (James) Nearhoof of Tyrone, Janice (Vincent) Pizzitola of Tampa, FL, and Lisa (Rick) Morgan of Purcellville, VA; one granddaughter: Julie Manning; and one brother-in-law: Robert Hessler. In October of 1949 he was preceded by a daughter, Karen Ann Hamer.

Lawrence was a 1944 graduate of Tyrone High School. He served honorably in the US Army, and was a veteran of the Second World War.

He was a member of the Tyrone American Legion Howard Gardner Post 281. He enjoyed woodworking and furniture making, and watching PSU and Steelers football.

A funeral service for Lawrence A. Hamer will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Private interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park.
