John Raymond Hall, age 83, of Port Matilda, PA died Monday, December 29, 2014 at Hearthside, State College, He was born January 7, 1931 in Tyrone, the son of John and Florence McCloskey Hall. On March 26, 1955 at the First English Lutheran Church, Tyrone, he was married to Doris Miller who survives. Also surviving are three children – Jefferey A. Hall, Ashley E. Hall and Fay (Ray Jr.) Golden, five grandchildren – Kristen (Eric) Hoover, Nicole (Jim) Lingafelt, Matthew (Amanda) Golden, and Keenan and Kyler Hall. Also surviving are six great grandchildren – Tristan, Trinity, Trace, Blaine, Brody and Chase and two sisters and one brother – Don Hall, Altoona, Sara Moore, Florida and Janet Ray, Louisiana. He was preceded by a brother and two sisters – Robert Hall, Mary Jane Healey and Patricia Hall.

Mr. Hall was a member of the Port Matilda Baptist Church and had served as a Layman of the church. He was a graduate of Tyrone High School Class of 1949 and had been employed as a mechanic at Dix Honda, State College, retiring in 1993. He was a veteran of service in the US Army. He enjoyed working on cars and liked to spend time with his family.

Funeral service for John Raymond Hall will be Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11 AM at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Pastor Ryan Smith officiating followed by a veteran's flag presentation service. Private interment will be made in the Port Matilda Presbyterian Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6 to 8 PM and on Saturday from 10 to the 11 AM service.
