John C. Dearing Jr., 93 of Tyrone, died Thursday, September 30, 2021. He was born in Altoona on October 2, 1927, the son of the late John C. and Thelma G. (Carper) Dearing Sr. On November 24, 1949 he was married to Helen Brisbin who preceded him in death on October 27, 1998. He is survived by four children: Judy (Sandy) Russell of Camp Hill, Jeffery (Terri) of Tipton, John (Robin) of Tyrone, and Reverend David (Barb) Dearing of Lewisburg; five grandchildren: Kelly, Liza, Lydia, Josh, and Lindsay; and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother: Charles Dearing; one sister: Betty Gunsallus; and step-father: Cloyd Everhart.
John was a 1947 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. He worked as a millwright foreman at WestVaco and retired in 1990 after 38 years and 9 months of service.
John was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd Tyrone where he devoted much of his time in service. He was a trustee, and usher, a member of administrative council, the building committee, teaching Bible study and Sunday School, the Friday morning church engineers, and the church bowling league.
He volunteered at Epworth Manor and delivered meals. He was a 20 year member of the Tyrone School Board.
A memorial service for John C. Dearing Jr. will be announced at a later date.
