February 17, 1939 – April 11, 2025
Jeanette M. Sweeney (Formerly Jeanette Reed), 86, of Bellefonte, and originally of Tyrone,
passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025. She was born in Tyrone on February 17, 1939, the daughter of the late Anthony "Tony" and Virginia (Turiano) Maisano. On August 29th, 1959 in Tyrone, PA she married Edwin Dean Reed who preceded her on March 5, 1985, and on December 18th, 1990 in Winchester, VA she married William Sweeny who preceded her on April 15, 1992. She is survived by two sons: Ron and Dale Reed; four grandchildren: Kimberly Baker, Rachel Smith, and Kourtney & Tyler Winter; two great grandchildren: Isabella Sanders and Oliver Kindle; four brothers: Frank, Tony, Jim, and Joe Maisano; and three sisters: Cecilia Romano, Josiphine Eyer, and Virginia Dimon. She was preceded by a brother Nick Maisano.
Jeanette was a 1957 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. She worked for the Tyrone School District, as well as F&F Drycleaners, New Enterprise as an office administrator, and the Coachlite Restaurant.
Jeanette was involved with many of the booster clubs for Tyrone Athletics and in the concessions for Tyrone wrestling, Tyrone football, and Little League Baseball. She was heavily involved with the Moose Club and was the Regent in Huntingdon for the Women of the Moose for which she received a National Achievement Award for her service to the organization. Jeanette also enjoyed traveling.
An 11 am funeral service for Jeanette M. Sweeney will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025, at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 6-8 pm as well as an hour prior to the service.
