James Anthony Woods, 85 of Tyrone, died Monday, November 29, 2021. He was born in Hollidaysburg on March 10, 1936, the son of the late Thomas Francis and Anna S. (Helsel) Woods. On October 28, 1960, he married Sylvia G. Mock who survives. Also surviving are three children: Kelly, Todd, and Brian; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two sisters: Sally and Marty; and one brother: Patrick. He was preceded in death by siblings: Anna, Betty, and Tom.

James was a graduate of Hollidaysburg Area High School. He retired as a machinist from Chicago Rivet and Machine Company. He was a member of St. Matthew Church and was head of the rosary committee.

James served honorably in the United States Navy.

James enjoyed hunting and fishing, camping, and playing his guitar. He was a member of the Tyrone Sportsmen's club, and the Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Company.

A memorial service for James A. Woods will be held at the convenience of the family.
