James Lawrence Fleming, 89, of Hollidaysburg, formerly of Tyrone, passed away on Tuesday November 14, 2023. He was born on October 5, 1934, in Philipsburg, to the late James W. and Agnes (Hardy) Fleming. On April 4, 1959, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Ashville, PA, he married his caring wife Dorothy (Storm) Fleming, who survives. Along with his wife, he is survived by his 6 sons: Dennis (Marcos), Kevin, Doug (Gwen), Brian (Debbie) and twins Craig and Curt; 9 grandchildren: Aaron (Jenna), Austin, Lindsay (Brian), Ryan (Olivia), Evan, Ian, Abby, Addison and Whitney; 11 great-grandchildren; extended family: Fr. Joseph W. Fleming, Mrs. Marie Korman; and his extended Storm family. He was preceded in death by an infant brother: Edward; his aunt Maude; his mother and father-in-law: Charles and Gertrude Storm; brother William (Theonas) and a nephew: John Fleming.
Jim was a 1952 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. He worked at Westvaco and then the Chicago Rivet and Machine Company until retirement.
He was devoted to God and was a lifelong member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church. Two of his many parish activities included being an usher and sacristan. James was also a loving husband and father, and cherished spending time with his family.
Friends and family are invited to his viewing on Thursday, November 16, 2023, from 4-7pm at Feller Memorial Home, in Tyrone. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am Friday, November 17, 2023, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Tyrone with Fr Michael Pleva and Fr Joseph Fleming officiating. Private interment will be made at Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jim's memory may be made to St. Matthew's Catholic School or Pinnacle Catholic Hospice Care in Altoona.
