Gwendolyn R. (Kennedy) Barrett, 84, of Tyrone, passed away January 13, 2022 at the home of her daughter, Debra. She was born in Philipsburg, the daughter of the late Hayes W. Kennedy and Helen (Bonsell) Kennedy, on June 19, 1937. She was married twice: first to Charles Summer in 1955 and then to Richard Barrett from 1987 until she died. Surviving are her current husband; two daughters: Debra LaRosa of Lewistown and Kim (Dwight) Shimmel of Tyrone; two step-children: Richard Barrett (Kristen) of Sinking Valley and Julie (Kevin) Ferner of Tyrone; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronald Kennedy of Hollidaysburg and sister Janice Kennedy of Mount Joy.

Gwen was a 1955 Graduate of Tyrone High School and a 1969 graduate of Altoona Votech's Licensed Practical Nursing Program. She retired as a LPN from Tyrone Hospital in 1994. Prior to that, she worked as an Office Manager for Dr. Chandra Swami, MD for many years and at Lancaster General Hospital for several years. She was a very active member of Bald Eagle Methodist Church and also attended the First Baptist Church

Gwen was always a generous, loving and caring mother, wife and friend.

There will be no public viewing. A private grave-side memorial service will be held later at the convenience of the family.
