Grace N. Holmes, age 96, of Port Matilda died Friday, July 22, 2016 at Colonial Courtyard. She was born September 15, 1919 in Tyrone, the daughter of George G. and Maude Brown Naylor and on March 11, 1944 she was married to Amos G. Holmes who died May 22, 1999. She is survived by 4 children – David G. (Marilyn) of Philipsburg, James L. (Susan) of Grazierville, Scott N. (Jackie) of Port Matilda and Pastor Mark A. (Jenny) of Superior, WI. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

She was a graduate of Tyrone High School, Class of 1937 and Pennsylvania State University Class of 1941. She had been employed as a chemist at Westvaco, retiring in 1972. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church where she had served as a Sunday School Teacher, had been a delegate

for the church conference and had been active in many aspects of the church. Grace enjoyed flower gardening, canning and cooking, she loved to bake and enjoyed bird watching.

Funeral service for Grace N. Holmes will be on Tuesday, July 26th at 11 AM at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Pastor Sue Arnold officiating. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 6:30 to 8:30 PM and from 10 to 11 AM on Tuesday prior to the funeral service.
