Obituary

Glenn L. Stevens, 70 of Tyrone died Friday, February 26, 2021. He was born in Altoona on February 8, 1951, the son of the late Edwin and Genevieve (Forney) Stevens. On July 9, 1993 he married Linda Hopkins who survives. Glenn is also survived by three stepchildren: Terry (Stephanie) DelBaggio, Benny (Susan) DelBaggio III, and Leah (Lucas) Hamer; four grandchildren: Kylie (Nathaneal) Farlow, Ben & Nicholas DelBaggio, and Landon Hamer; one great-grandson: Noah Farlow; and several cousins.

Glenn was a graduate of Altoona Area High School and Penn State University. He retired from Hollidaysburg Junior High School after 34 years of service as a biology teacher. He is well-remembered by his students for his infamous "frog test".

Following retirement, he enjoyed traveling, golf and working in the yard, but the thing he enjoyed most was spending time with his family and planning events for the grandchildren.

He was an active member of the Sinking Valley Golf Course, where he served for several years on the Board of Directors. He was an accomplished racehorse enthusiast. He performed blood testing for racehorses in West Virginia in the 90's. He enjoyed researching and studying bloodlines and has attended races countrywide as well as the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness, and the Belmont Stakes. His favorite races were at Saratoga Springs, NY, where he visited every August.

He was a loving, kind, and generous husband, stepfather, grandfather, and friend.

A 3 pm service will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc. with Father Jozef Kovacik officiating. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 1 pm until the 3 pm service. Private interment will be made at Oak Grove Cemetery.
