Gary Joseph DiDomenico, 76 of Tyrone, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2025. He was born in Altoona on May 15, 1948, the son of the late Joseph and Grace (Stetter) DiDomenico. On March 6, 1987, in Winchester, VA he married Jamie (Madden) DiDomenico who survives. Also surviving are three children: Stacy, Troy (Blanche), and Antonio DiDomenico; two step-children: Amie and Kurt (Princecine) Myers; eight grandchildren: Annie Gardner, Laney Romano, Enzo, Aidan, and Blaize DiDomenico, Nico DiDomenico, Savanna DiDomenico, and Ailani Myers; three siblings: Linda (James) Klesius; Mary Moore; and Mark DiDomenico; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Gary was a 1966 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. While in school Gary wrestled for the Golden Eagles and captured the 1966 PIAA State Championship at 180 lbs. He went on to wrestle at Clarion University and Thaddeus Stevens. Gary retired as a manufacturer from PPG.
He was a US Army veteran and served his country honorably. During his time spent in the military he was deployed in Bangkok, Thailand.
He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church as well as the Tyrone Wrestling Boosters. He enjoyed attending Tyrone wrestling matches and going to Penn State wrestling matches with Art Freeman. He enjoyed cars and working on them and was always fond of his Corvette. More than anything, Gary enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
An 11 am Mass for Gary Joseph DiDomenico will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, at St. Matthew Catholic Church with Father Michael Pleva officiating. Friends will be received on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 4-8 pm at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc. Contributions in Gary's memory may be made to the Tyrone Wrestling Boosters as well as St. Matthew Catholic Church.
