Obituary

Frederick G. VanAllman, 92, of Bellemeade formerly of Tyrone, died Saturday June 22, 2019 at Epworth Manor.

He was born September 3, 1926 in Tyrone, a son of Charles E. and Cora (Sprow) VanAllman. On February 2, 1959 in Tyrone he married Jane A. Saylor. She died January 27, 2012.

Surviving are a niece Linda Kay of Huntingdon. He was preceded in death by a sister Rosella Hollen and a brother Charlie.

Mr. VanAllman retired in 1990 from the paper coating department of Westvaco, Tyrone following 29 years service. He was previously employed at the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII serving as a Staff Sergeant with the 6981st Infantry Rifle Company in the Eastern, African and Middle Eastern campaign.

Fred was a longtime volunteer at Epworth Manor and had been a Sunday School teacher. He was a youth group leader at his church and took them on many outings. He enjoyed hunting, golfing and bowling.

Friends will be received at Feller Memorial Home on Wednesday June 26, 2019 from 2 P.M. until the funeral service at 5 P.M. Pastor Rob Davis officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.
