Francis E. Gurekovich Jr, 69 of Tyrone passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, after a brief illness.

He was married to Darcy Anna (Leidig). Surviving are his loving wife, and beloved daughter Aubree Anna Gurekovich at home, and five grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Michael (Christine) Gurekovich of Tyrone, Patricia (Joseph) Yost of Roaring Spring, Karl (Kimberly) Gurekovich of Tyrone, and Karen Gurekovich of Tyrone.

He was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Gail Gurekovich, brother Christopher and sister Mary Alice Gurekovich, and sons Jonathan and Daniel.

Francis was a '74 graduate of Tyrone Area High School and served in the US Coast Guard. Most of his career was spent as an over the road truck driver.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, the Pittsburgh Steelers and traveling with his wife and daughter.

A 10 am Funeral Service for Francis E. Gurekovich Jr. will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc. with Father Michael Pleva officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 5-8 pm as well as on Friday from 9 am until the time of service. Interment with military honors will be held following the service at Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon.
