Frances M. (Kolessy) Beckwith, 93, Tyrone, went home peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday.

She was the daughter of the late John Francis and Frances M. (Belin) Kolessy. On Dec. 31, 1949, she married Arthur C Beckwith, who preceded her in death on May 28, 2016. Surviving are a son, Alan Beckwith of Studio City, Calif.; a daughter: Darlene Bressler of Bald Eagle; two grandchildren: Dr. Nicole (Marc) Bressler and Melissa (Jason) Heffner; a great-grandchild, Oliver E. Heffner; and a sister: Marie Damico of Erie. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeannie Diehl; a son-in-law, Donald Bresler; a grandson: Donald Scott Bressler; two brothers: Frank and John Kolessy; and two sisters: Mina Korinchak and Bernadine Kolessy.

Frances was a 1944 graduate of Tyrone High School. She worked at Chicago Rivet and Machine Company in the quality control department until her retirement. She was a member of the Tipton Baptist Church.

She took pleasure in doing word puzzles and loved reading, especially reading her Bible, which was something she did daily. She also enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels. She loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters and great-grandson.

A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions in Frances' memory be made to Tipton Baptist Church, 708 Deborah St., Tipton, PA 16684, and Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602. Arrangements are by Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone.
