Eleanor "Annie" Darlene Shaffer, 89 of Tyrone, passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, March 23, 2026. She was born in Cresson, PA on February 9, 1937, a daughter of the late Ernest and Gertrude "Goldie" (Murtiff) Wertz. On November 1, 1961, in Maryland she married William E. Shaffer Sr. who preceded her in death on January 10, 2023. She is survived by four children: Roxann (Randal) Walter, William (Shauna) Shaffer Jr., Jessica Ammerman, and Penny (Paul) Huss; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two siblings: Larry Wertz and Elaine Sensky; and a daughter-in-law: Lori Jones. She was preceded in death by children: Denny Michael Jones, Leeann Walters, and Abigail Becker; two son-in-laws: David Ammerman and Bob Walters; numerous siblings; and her beloved Shepherd: Bubba.

Eleanor was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Tyrone. She enjoyed watching the hummingbirds and other birds at her feeders, watching cooking shows and applying what she knew to cook wonderful meals, and more than anything spending time with her husband and taking rides in the wrecker with him. She also enjoyed talking with her sister-in-laws, Dottie and Theresa.

Private interment will be made at Oak Grove Cemetery Tyrone. Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Matthew Catholic Church, Central PA Humane Society, or the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.
