Hoover
August 24, 1959 – October 9, 2021
David W. Hoover Sr., 62 of Bellwood, passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021, after a very courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Tyrone on August 24, 1959 the son of the late Jack W. and Mary Ellen (Thomas) Hoover who survives. Also surviving are his children: David W. (Brenda) Jr. of Martinsburg, Brooke, and Casey Hoover of Tyrone, Bryan (Samantha) Holtzinger of Washington, PA, and Jay (Jamie) Holtzinger of Gettysburg, PA; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his partner of 25 years: Yvonne Holtzinger. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by a daughter: June Marie Hoover.
David was a graduate of TAHS class of '77 and The Truck Driving School of Hershey. David loved his dream as a truck driver and traveled for many years from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific coast. He developed such a great love of our magnificent country. He continued to live his dream by driving truck for Espy Transport of Tyrone until the present time.
He loved his fur babies, watching the Steelers and the Green Bay Packers, and reliving memories of driving truck for the many companies over the years: D&G Trucking, Davis Farms Dysart, Electric Motor and Supply Altoona, Hoover Trucking Tyrone and Kephart Trucking Bigler.
David belonged to the Tyrone Area Community Organization (TACO) and AARP. He was a previous member of BPOE Tyrone Lodge 212, Tyrone, Bald Eagle, and Liberty Township Sportsman's Club, and the Buck Rub Hinting Club. Everyone who knew him, knew how special he was and he left a special place in everyone's heart.
At David's request, there will be no viewing or funeral services. The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Tyrone Area Community Organization.
