Dallas E. Heaton, 75, of Skelp died Thursday March 10, 2016 at his residence.

He was born August 30, 1940 in Wingate a son of Fred Leroy and Dorothy Faye (Iddings) Heaton. On April 23, 1966 at the Tipton Baptist Church he married Judy K. Cherry.

Surviving are his wife, a son Dallas E. Jr. and wife Lisa of Altoona, three grandchildren Kendra and fiancée Mathew, Alyssa and Devin , a great-grandson Aidan, two brothers Walter McMullen of Tyrone, Joe McMullen of Tipton, and a sister Faye Neff of Juniata. He was preceded in death by two brothers James McMullen Jr. and Jerry Heaton and a sister Stella Friley.

Mr. Heaton retired in 2011 from the warehouse at Gardners Candies, Tyrone and was previously employed at Seabrook Blanching Nuts, Tyrone, a branch of Gardners, as manager for 33 years. He had worked a total of 53 years for Gardners.

He was a member of the Navy Club and a life member of the Tyrone Hookies Fire Company. He had attended the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Bald Eagle. He was a 1959 graduate of Tyrone High School.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War serving in Korea as a Corporal in the 7th Infantry Division. He had received the sharpshooter badge.

Dallas enjoyed being with his family, Tyrone High School football, hunting and woodworking. He was especially fond of attending his grandson Devin's sports games.

Funeral services will be held Monday March 14, 2016 at 11 A.M. at Feller Memorial Home with Rev. David Z. Lewis officiating. Interment with veterans honors accorded by the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard will follow at Blair Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M.
