Obituary

Connie Susan Sessamen, 74, of Tyrone, passed peacefully on April 7, 2026, with her children by her side as she wished. She was born in Altoona on August 18, 1951, a daughter of the late George and Bella (Phillips) Bonsell Sr. She is survived by four children: Melissa Rose (Tom) Moyer, Brenda Jean DuBois, Edwin Samuel Sessamen, and Sherry Ann (Matthew) Sessamen Campbell; 11 grandchildren: Brooke Pierson, Alecia Woomer, Bailey Petrucelli, Tessa Ross, Chelsea Berry, Diana Sears, Mikayla Berkheimer, Samuel Sessamen, David DuBois, Blake Nail, and Caiden Sessamen; 13 great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Ruth (Fred) Estright, Donna Carlucci, and Joyce (Ray) Cingle. She was preceded in death by two brothers: George Bonsell Jr. and Harry Bonsell.

She was a 1969 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. Her favorite moments were those spent with family and one her greatest joys was welcoming all the new babies to the family. She made every holiday special and memorable. Every Christmas she would bake cookies and make ornaments for all her children, grandchildren, and eventually great-grandchildren.

Her love for family picnics at Greenwood Furnace created beautiful memories for her children and grandchildren. When she was in better health she loved riding her bike more than anything, taking walks and exploring nature.

Connie was incredibly creative and talented, sewing everything from her children's clothes when they were little, prom dresses and class party dresses for family and friends, Barbie clothes for her granddaughters, baptism outfits for new babies and sometimes just a little hem or button fix. She also sewed numerous quilts for her family and friends. She donated many of her hand stitched quilts to support local charities including: Tyrone-Snyder Public Library, and God's Little Offerings, Inc. She took great pride in helping and supporting others in any little way she could. She tried to make her family's and anyone else's life easier, always concerned with others and thinking of ways she could help.

She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and joke around. She absolutely adored shopping trips and antiquing with her sisters and daughters. She loved her sisters very much and often talked about how much fun they had on trips together, stating, "We could write a book."

When people describe Connie, their first thoughts are sweetness, warmth, kindness, love, and that she was a very strong woman. Anyone who visited Connie was met with a big smile and a warm heart.
