Obituary

Claude C. "Tick" Lewis Jr., 89 of Tyrone, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025. He was born in Tyrone on June 7, 1935, the son of the late Claude C. and Edna (Laird) Lewis Sr. On December 20, 1955, he married Donna (Rodgers) Lewis who survives. Also surviving are four children: Tyke (Deb) Lewis, Julie (Warren) Walk, David Lewis, and Lisa Hartsock; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a brother: Carl Lewis. He was preceded in death by six sisters: Martha DuBree, Dottie Boytim, Ellen Cushion, Arlene Liddick, Janie McClellan, and Claudia Wilson.

Tick was a 1953 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. Following school he enlisted in the US Army where he served honorably in the 3rd Armored Division in Frankfurt, Germany. Over the years Tick had many jobs. He worked for George DelBaggio Trucking, Chicago Rivet, Westvaco, and then in 1997 he retired from George Bashor Corporation as a construction contractor. Following his retirement he worked for the Tyrone Borough at Reservoir Park as a park attendant.

He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd as well as the American Legion, and was a lifetime member of the Hookies. Tick loved the outdoors, working in his shop, feeding and watching wildlife of all kinds, and patrolling Tyrone securing the perimeter and getting a daily report on the town.

In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society.
