Charles W. Kirk, age 86, formerly of 203 6th Street, Tyrone and a guest at Colonial Courtyard died Monday, April 15, 2013 at 10:15 PM at the Courtyard. He was born December 4, 1926 in Tyrone, the son of William and Ethel Keith Kirk. On January 11, 1977 he was married to Alice G. Summers Wakefield who preceded him in death November 1, 2011. He is survived by a step-daughter, Joanne Hedberg, Tyrone and two step-grandchildren – Charity H. (James) Lewis of Altoona and Kyle Hedberg of Louisville, KY. He was predeceased by a brother Donald of Watertown, NY.

Mr. Kirk had been employed as a fork lift operator at Westvaco, retiring April 1, 1989 after 41 years service. During World War II he served in the Merchant Marines and served in the U.S Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Tyrone Sportsmen.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday at 1 PM at the chapel at Blair Memorial Park with Pastor Peggy Bonsell officiating. Flag presentation will be by the Tyrone Honor Guard.
