Obituary

Charles "Charlie" A. Diehl, 92, of Tyrone, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2022, surrounded by family.

He was born March 27, 1929 to Joseph and Iva (Huntsman) Diehl in Tyrone. On September 23, 1949 in Winchester, Va., he married Catherine "Cassie" Kobuck.

Surviving are his children, Linda (Ash) Weaver of Tyrone, Chuck (Crystal) of Tyrone; grandchildren, Jaime Lynch, Angel (Nate) Harbst, Christopher (Shannan), Nichlas (Ashley) and Annette (Sean) Williams; great-grandchildren, Jaidon and Emily Lynch, Jonathan and Sage Harbst, Lola and Azalea Williams, Everly Diehl; sisters, Helen Mengel and Eleanor Miller. Along with his wife, Cassie, he is preceded in death by daughter, Melanie Estright and siblings, Robert, George, Jane, William, Bernard, Joseph.

Charlie served our country by joining the Army, in 1949, which took him to be stationed in Alaska, where he learned his skills in welding. He worked at G.C. Wilsons as a mechanic then Westvaco Papermill; later on he opened Diehl's Garage, where he worked on cars with his son as partners.

For 20 years, he served as Snyder Township Supervisor and on the Northern Blair County Sewer Authority. He was a member of the Tyrone Church of the Brethren and a lifelong member of the Tyrone and Bald Eagle Sportsmen's Clubs.

He enjoyed trapshooting, fishing, hunting, anything car-related.

Charlie was a busy man; but he always had time for his family, whom he loved, and the many friends he made throughout his years of community service and his business. He was always ready to lend a hand to any projects going on in his neighborhood or to play a game of pinochle.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 10, 2022, followed by a service at 11 a.m., at Tyrone Church of the Brethren., with military honors after. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family.
