Carol L. Swayne, a lifelong resident of Tyrone, passed away on September 13, 2025, at the age of 86. She was the daughter of the late Chester and Vera (Fisher) Shultz. Carol was predeceased by her husband of nearly 67 years, Paul S. Swayne, Jr.

Carol graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor's degree in education and a Reading Specialist Certification, Master's Equivalency. Carol was employed by the Tyrone Area School District for over 20 years as a Reading Specialist in the Tyrone Elementary Schools. She was quite passionate about helping her young students learn to read.

Carol was a member of Columbia Avenue Methodist Church/Church of the Good Shepherd for more than 60 years.

Life's simplest pleasures are what gave Carol the most joy. Carol enjoyed the company of those closest to her and loved sharing stories, especially with her grandsons and her great grandchildren. All who knew Carol would agree that she never met a cat she didn't like. Photos of her grandsons and great grandchildren and her beloved cats never failed to brighten her day, bringing smiles, laughter and a sense of closeness no matter the distance.

Carol is and will continue to be lovingly remembered by her family.
