IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Budd I.
Lucas
April 27, 1934 – February 7, 2025
Budd I. Lucas Jr., 90, of Tyrone, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025. He was born in Tyrone on April 27, 1934, to the late Budd I. and Mary T. (Budd) Lucas Sr. On October 3, 1957 he married Kathryn S. "Buzz Saw" Schoch who preceded him in death on December 30, 2011. He is survived by seven children: Valerie Friday of Long Beach, MS, Robin (Mike) Lewis of Tyrone, Janelle (Steve) Hurley of Milan, TN, Mark, Steve (Tracy), Michael (Tammy), and David (Noelle) Lucas, all of Tyrone; 11 grandchildren; Brittnee, Breea, Shawna, Erin, Randi, Chelsie, Levi, Kalob, Parker, Gabriel, and Brandon; and 11great-grandchildren; and a sister: Janice (Slugg) Drake. He was preceded by two brothers: Joseph and Kerry Lucas.
He was a 1952 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. He served honorably in the United States Navy on the USS Lowry during the Korean War. He worked as a machinist at Chicago Rivet and Machine Company for 25 years before relocating to North Carolina where he worked at the Cherry Point Naval Air Station for 14 years before retiring in 1994 and moving back to Tyrone.
Budd was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and he also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Budd was also a skilled carpenter and spent many years using those skills to build his own home and to help out others with their projects.
He touched the lives of many with his sharp mind and skilled hands, whether that was helping to replace a roof or "Hack Saw" was kicking ass in a game of Poker.
His relationships were built on loyalty and dependability. You could always count on Budd and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff/employees for the wonderful care that Budd received at the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center.
