Obituary

Betty Jean Gunsallus, 90, of Tyrone died Tuesday February 9, 2016 at UPMC Altoona Emergency Room.

She was born November 30, 1925 in Petersburg a daughter of John Clay and Thelma (Carper) Dearing. On November 2, 1944 in Tyrone she married Charles L. Gunsallus. He died September 26, 1969.

Surviving are a daughter Ivalou Goldy of Umatilla, Florida, two sons Charles L. III and wife Karen on Hanover, Michael E. and wife Patricia of Hollidaysburg, four grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and two brothers John Dearing of Tyrone and Glenn Dunlap of Horseheads, New York. She was preceded in death by a brother Charles Dearing.

Mrs. Gunsallus retired in 1989 from Big Yank, Tyrone as a sewing machine operator following 27 years service.

She was a member of the Tyrone Church of the Brethren and its Heading Sunday School Class.

Betty enjoyed following Penn State and Steeler football, Pittsburgh Pirate baseball and the local high school teams.

Funeral services will be held Friday February 12, 2016 at 11 A.M. at Feller Memorial Home with her nephew Rev. David Dearing officiating. Interment will follow at Blair Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 P.M.
