Benjamin B. Calderwood, 84, of Tyrone entered into eternal life Tuesday March 26, 2019at Epworth Manor.

He was born October 18, 1934 in Ironsville, a son of Robert and Anna Jane (Snyder) Calderwood. On September 14, 1963 at the Columbia Ave. Methodist Church, Tyrone he married Catherine L. Stonebraker. She died March 9, 2017.

Surviving are two daughters Jolene Umholtz and husband Richard of Tyrone, Dawn Winstead and husband Ray of Indiana, four grandchildren, Jacob and Daniel Winstead, Seth and Paige Umholtz, three sisters; Beverly Calderwood of Philadelphia, Marsha Irvin of Wayne and Cleo Irvin of Centreville, Virginia and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Robert Calderwood.

Mr. Calderwood retired in 1998 from BiLo, Tyrone as produce manager following 36 years service.

He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Tyrone where he served as church youth group leader and was past president of the Tyrone Band Parents. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a 1953 graduate of Tyrone High School and was a member of the thespian club.

Ben enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, fishing, cooking, poetry and listening to music. He had a gift of making people laugh to brighten their day. He loved family gatherings.

Funeral services will be held Friday March 29, 2019 at 11 A.M. at Church of the Good Shepherd with Rev. Eric Shafer officiating. Interment will follow at Bald Eagle Cemetery. Friends will be received at Feller Memorial Home on Thursday from 6 to 8 P.M. and at the the church on Friday from 10 A.M. until the time of services.
