Ann M. "Peggy" Updike, 84, of Tyrone died Friday December 23, 2016 at the Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg.

She was born September 27, 1932 in Tyrone, a daughter of Edward and Edith (Wertz) Neil. On November 28, 1953 in Tyrone she married Joseph L. Updike Sr. He died May 1, 1982.

Surviving are a daughter Judith Walter and husband Robert of Duncansville, two sons, Joseph L. Jr. and wife Lee Ann of Altoona, Chris of Bellefonte, 6 grandchildren, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Kathryn, Laura, Tyler, and James, ten great-grandchildren and a sister Doris Waite of Bellemeade.

Mrs. Updike was a member of First English Lutheran Church, Tyrone.

She had been Administrative Assistant at Grier School for 25 years. She later retired from the Centre Daily Times as a secretary.

She was a 1950 graduate of Tyrone High School and a graduate of the Altoona School of Commerce.

Peggy loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was an accomplished artist and enjoyed reading.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday December 28, 2016 at 11 A.M. at Feller Memorial Home with Rev. Ralph Hamer officiating. Interment will follow at Blair Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the funeral home of Tuesday from 6 to 8 P.M.
