A. Eugene "Gene" Haupt, 90, of Tyrone, passed away Monday. He was born in Tyrone, son of the late Leroy and Marie (Moffa) Haupt Sr.

He is survived by a brother, James M. Haupt of Tyrone.

He was preceded in death by siblings: Leroy Haupt Jr., Mary Bywater and Rosalind Snyder.

Gene was a 1954 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. After high school Gene joined the United States Air Force, where he served honorably in the Strategic Air Command as an Airman 2nd class during Korea.

After serving he was employed at various jobs including: WestVaco, The Tyrone Borough and Conrail, where he retired as a Boilermaker in 2000 after 22 years of service.

He was a member of the Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Company, The American Legion Tyrone Post #281, and was a life member of the National Rifle Association.

Funeral services for A. Eugene "Gene" Haupt will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be made privately at Grandview Cemetery in Tyrone.
