Obituary for William "Bill" Allen Jones
William “Bill” Allen Jones, Sr. 79 of Tyrone died Tuesday January 21, 2020. Bill was born in Tyrone on February 8, 1940 the son of the late Bruce Calvin Jr and Sara Jane (McClellan) Jones. On August 28, 1966 in Phoenixville, PA he married Judy Slaughter who survives. Also surviving are six children: Penny Jane (Ralph) Mullen of North Tonowanda, NY, William Allen Jr (Lisa) Jones of Altoona, Sherry (Kevin) Robinson of Pinecroft, Todd (Debbie) Jones of Cheyenne, WY, Tammy (Rick) Emigh and Tracy Jean (Rob) Detwiler both of Tyrone; grandchildren: Cody, Cory, Carys, Sara, Abby, Carrie, Shawn, Kristin, Josh, Brittany, Alesia, Derrick and Lindsay; numerous great-grandchildren; one sister: Pat Schell; and one brother: Bruce “BJ” Jones III.
Bill was a member of the Tyrone Bible Baptist church. He was a 1958 graduate of Tyrone High School, he attended the Pennsylvania State Police Academy, was an MP in the United States Air Force as well as being a part of Strategic Air Command and a graduate of Altoona Bible College.
He and his wife were both active in civil war reenactments serving with the 20th Main. He and his wife also sang together for About Him Ministries. He was also a member of the Burger King Breakfast Club, solving the world’s problems one coffee at a time.
An 11 am Funeral service with military honors for William “Bill” Allen Jones, Sr. will be held Friday, January 24, 2020 at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc. with Ken Paterson and Harry Duey officiating. Private interment will be at Burket Cemetery. Contributions in Bill’s memory may be made to the family, care of the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc., 115 W 10th St., Tyrone, PA 16686.
