Obituary for Walter C. Spacht

Walter C. Spacht, 77, of Tyrone, died at his residence on August 11, 2023. He was born on February 28, 1946. He was the Son of the Late Ralph Spacht and Eva Spacht(Harpster). He was also preceded in death by his Sister, Dorothy Jones(Spacht) of Mechanicsburg, PA.

Walter graduated from Juniata Valley High School, Class of 1965. Following graduation he served with the U.S. Military for six years. He was married to Kay Spacht(Sweitzer) for 51 years. They traveled to all 50 states and Enjoyed a wonderful Life Together. In his Early years he was an avid hunter. He worked for Conrail for 25 years. After Retiring from the railroad on disability he became a basketball coach for Juniata Valley for 22 years. After going 1-19 his first year, he had a winning season for the next 21 years. He was an integral part in the 94-95 season when Juniata Valley lost in the Class A Finals of States to Scotland. In the 95-96 season Juniata Valley went on to win the Class A State championship beating Bishop O'Hara in the Finals. He also was a member of the Fire Police of Alexandria for 35 years. He Loved high school basketball and enjoyed coaching his players not only on the court but also off the court with life lessons. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed many days on the Links.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Kay (Sweitzer) Spacht: are his son, W. Todd Spacht and his wife Kathie of Mechanicsburg: son, Christopher S Spacht of Tyrone; Six grandchildren, Doug Spacht of Halifax; Brian Spacht of Pittsburgh; Sam Spacht and wife, Jolene, of Halifax. Nicholas Wilders of New York; 3 great grandchildren. Noah, Carson, and Jhett.

A service of remembrance will be held Thursday, August 17th at the Feller Memorial Home, 817 W 15th Street of Tyrone, PA. 16686. Visitation will be from 1pm to 3pm with a service to follow at 3pm. in Lieu of flowers please donate in Walters name to Grane hospice BrightSpring Hospice Foundation
