Obituary for Shirley Ann Dawson
Shirley Ann Dawson, 80, of Tyrone, PA, passed away Friday, April 1, 2022 surrounded by her family.
Shirley was born January 12, 1942 to the late Charles H. and Alma F. (Iddings) Gray. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas G. Dawson, Jr. She is survived by daughters, Leslie M. Hutchins and Holly J. Seidel (Rob Aultz); grandchildren, Kelsey Hutchins, Tyler Hutchins (Alyssa Cullen) and Cody Seidel; great grandchildren, Dakoda, Gage and Hunter McCaulley, Mikaylinn Ferris and Cole Hutchins.
Shirley was a 1960 graduate of Tyrone Area High School and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She worked as a secretary for the Tyrone School District for 26 years and previously worked at WestVaco, the Tyrone Herald Office and Tyrone Milling.
You could most recently find Shirley at the Tyrone Navy Club where she enjoyed volunteering, talking to our local veterans and writing their stories as the Ship's Writer. In her spare time, she enjoyed working on the Class of 1960 class reunions, shopping, playing BINGO, listening to Elvis, reading, taking care of her flower gardens, bowling, fishing, camping and spending time with family and friends.
Friends and family will be received at the Feller Memorial Home in Tyrone from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Wednesday, April 6, 2022. A service will immediately follow with burial being held at Blair Memorial Park in Bellwood.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Central PA Humane Society in Altoona.
