Obituary for Shirley Ann Carper Brown

Shirley Ann Brown, 90, of Spruce Creek died Wednesday December 11, 2019 at AristaCare at Huntingdon Park.

She was born July 15, 1929 in Spruce Creek, a daughter of John T. and Phyllis J. (Liebal) Carper. On August 17, 1947 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Williamsburg she married Richard Brown. He died November 25, 1979.

Surviving are children: Karyl Price of Carlisle, Linda Woodring and husband Terry of Spruce Creek, Vicky Reihart of Alexandria, Richard Brown Jr. and wife Judy of Alexandria, David Brown of Spruce Creek, two brothers; Jack Carper and wife Cindy of Altoona, Dennis Carper and wife Barb of Williamsburg, a sister, Lola Keith and husband Warren of Ephrata, eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Amy Smith and a son-in-law Paul Price.

Mrs. Brown worked on the family farm for many years and was also employed at Petersburg Transformer Co. Her and her husband were formerly owner/operator of Spruce Creek Tavern.

She enjoyed family time with her grandchildren, cooking and country music. She was of the Catholic faith.

Funeral services will be held Saturday December 14, 2019 at 11 A.M. at Feller Memorial Home with Pastor Tim Guyer officiating. Interment will follow at Burket Cemetery, Warriors Mark. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 6 to 8 P.M. and on Saturday from 9 A.M. until the time of services.
