Obituary for Shirley L Bailey

Shirley Ann (Leidy) Bailey, 83 of Tyrone died Saturday, April 20, 2019. She was born on September 2, 1935 in Water Street, PA, the daughter of the late Lester R. and Melda (Mock) Leidy. On August 29, 1959 at the Water Street Lutheran Church she married John Ermine Bailey Jr. who preceded her in death on September 23, 2010. Shirley is survived by 2 daughters: Janice Gainer of State College and Cathy Bailey of Lock Haven; 4 grandchildren: Matthew (Kelsey) Miller of Bellwood, Greg Gates of State College, Amber (David) Roskos of Mountain Top and Joshua Gainer of Huntingdon; 5 great-grandchildren: Annelise Roskos, Ashlynn Roskos, Emma Grace Miller, Madison Miller and Kaylin Irvin; 1 brother: Jacob (Barbara) Leidy of Alexandria; and 1 sister: Margaret Bennett of Palmyra. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Richard, Lester and Donald Leidy.

Shirley was a 1954 graduate of Juniata Valley High School and was employed by Jostens Printing in the layout department. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Tyrone where she served faithfully throughout the years. She also volunteered her time helping with March of Dimes, Epworth Manor, Tyrone Foodbank, and Relay for Life. She enjoyed arts and crafts such as painting, drawing, and ceramics to name a few. She also had a love for traveling and taking trips to the beach but most of all she loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Friends will be received on Monday, April 22, 2019 from 5-8 PM at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc. and on Tuesday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Tyrone from 10-11AM. An 11 AM funeral service for Shirley Ann Bailey will be held on Tuesday April 23, 2019 at Wesley United Methodist Church with Pastor Tina Hawkins officiating. Interment is at Blair Memorial Park. Contributions in Shirley's memory may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 1200 Logan Ave., Tyrone, PA 16686. Arrangements are under the care of the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc.
