Obituary for Russell Robert "Skip" Miller Sr.

Russell “Skip” Robert Miller Sr, 84 of Tyrone, died Thursday, January 7, 2021. He was born in Tyrone on November 2, 1936 the son of the late Russell and Margaret (Keefer) Miller. On July 19, 1958 in Hagerstown, MD he married Carol Stitt. He is survived by five children: Donna (Randy) Chetko of Thompson Station, TN, Darla “Kim” (Mickey) Chieffalo of Norwalk, CT, Eva (Tim) Anrico of Shelton, CT, Russell Miller Jr. of Tyrone and, from a previous marriage, Cindy Hunter of Williamsburg; two sisters: Donna Miller and Kay Bell both of Tyrone; fifteen grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Russell spent a majority of his career in Connecticut working in the import and export business. He served honorably in the US Army. He attended Grace Baptist Church in Tyrone. He was a member of the Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Company, TACO, Tyrone Sportsman Association, the Railroad Museum and The Burger King Club.

Russell enjoyed shooting, history, watching TV, reading lots of books and walking, 3 miles a day. He and his wife also loved to travel.

An 11 am funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the Grace Baptist Church with pastor Aaron Jeffery officiating. Friends will be received on Tuesday at the church from 10 am until the 11 am service. Interment with military honors will be made at Blair Memorial Park following the service. Contributions in Russell’s memory may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 2308 Adams Avenue, Tyrone, PA 16686.
