Obituary for Rosetta "Mae" Romano (Summers)
Rosetta Mae Romano, 99 of Tyrone and a guest of Epworth Manor, passed away Monday, March 13, 2023. She was born on February 18, 1924 in Wingate, the daughter of the late Chester and Iva (Gramley) Summers. On May 31, 1947, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church she married Daniel G. Romano who preceded her on December 18, 2001. She is survived by two daughters: Brenda (Tom) Hoyne, and Diane (Eugene Reese) Romano; two grandchildren: Tom (Maureen) Hoyne Jr., and Erin (Garrett) Kovacevic; and three great-grandchildren: Shannon and James Hoyne, and Ana Kovacevic. She was preceded in death by an infant son: David; three sisters: a twin Jane Benn, Marjorie Knarr, and Alice Kirk; and a brother Charles Summers. She was the last of her immediate family.
Mae was a 1942 graduate of Tyrone High School. She was employed at Big Yank. She was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church and a former member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She was also a member of Tyrone’s former chapter of AARP.
She was also a seamstress at home and loved reading. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
An 11 am Funeral Mass for Rosetta Mae Romano will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church with Father Michael Pleva officiating. Friends will be received at the Feller Memorial Home on Friday, March 17, 2023, from 4-7 pm, as well as on Saturday from 10 am until the procession to the church at 10:45. Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Matthew’s Church, 1105 Cameron Ave., Tyrone, PA 16686.
