Rosalie A. Nearhoof, 82 of Julian, formerly of Tyrone, died Wednesday, July 7, 2021. She was born at home in Grazierville, the daughter of the late Leroy and Edna (Hughes) Markel. On January 3, 1959 at the Grazierville United Methodist Church she married Willard L. Nearhoof who preceded her in death on July 18, 2010. She is survived by three children: Melanie S. (Douglas) Ekdahl of Stormstown, Duke W. Nearhoof of Tyrone, and Scott A. Nearhoof of Grampian; nine grandchildren: Adam Biddle, Brandin Walk, Derek Biddle, Jessica Thompson, Blake Ekdahl, Kyle Nearhoof, Shane Ekdahl, Henry Nearhoof, and Eliza Nearhoof; ten great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law: Cindy Rohland of Lebanon. She was preceded by one daughter; Peggy Biddle; siblings William L., Ronald and Peggy Markel. She was the last of her immediate family.
Rosalie was a 1958 graduate of Tyrone High School. She was a homemaker and also worked as a personal care aide. She attended New Beginnings Church in State College.
She enjoyed watching crime shows, PSU and Steelers football, PSU wrestling and doing weekly Bible studies.
Rosalie’s family would like to thank Ann from Home Instead, the staff at Wynwood House and Hospice 365 for the excellent care of their mother.
An 11 am funeral service for Rosalie A. Nearhoof will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Feller Memorial Home with pastor Chester Marshall officiating. Friends will be received from 10 am until the 11 am service. Interment will be made at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to New Beginnings Church, 341 Science Park Road, State College, PA 16801.
