Obituary for Ronald A. States
Ronald Allen States, 85 of Tyrone, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023. He was born on January 29, 1938, in Tyrone, the son of the late Fredrick and Mary Jane (Mayhue) States. On August 7, 1976 in West Virginia he married Loretta States who preceded him in death in October 2011. He is survived by four daughters: Karen Fletcher, Robin (Ardean) Latchford, Penny States, and Jo Ellen (Phillip) Gault; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Helen Beamer, JoAnn Cambridge, and Donna Harper. He was preceded in death by a daughter: Mary Jane States; and a brother: Fredrick States.
Ron was a veteran of the US Army 82nd Airborne Division. He retired from Proctor Silex, serving in several positions over the years with his most recent being in the quality control department. After retirement he worked for the Tyrone Borough as a parking meter attendant. He was a member of the Tyrone Alliance Church, and past social member of the Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Company.
He enjoyed fishing, especially on Glendale Lake, and hunting. He often used to say, "If God made a better day, he kept it for himself". He liked watching PSU and Tyrone football, and PSU wrestling. He delighted in spending time with his family and loved his children and grandchildren very much.
He was proud of his service to his country and loved the relationship he had with the Lord.
An 11 am funeral service for Ronald Allen States will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at the Tyrone Alliance Church, with Pastor Carl Schmidt officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 10 am until the time of the service. Interment will be made following the service with military honors at Baughman Cemetery. Contributions in Ron’s memory may be made to the Tyrone Alliance Church’s Nehemiah Project, 2103 Adams Ave., Tyrone, PA 16686.
