Obituary for Rocco DelBaggio

Rocco J. DelBaggio Jr., 96 of Tyrone, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 2, 2023 after living a long, wonderful life. He was born in Tyrone on April 9, 1926, the son of the late Rocco J. and Duna (Rich) DelBaggio Sr. On October 5, 1949 in Winchester, VA he married Marian Sprankle who preceded him in death on January 27, 1997.

He is survived by two sons: Mike (Patrice) DelBaggio, and Gary “Bags” DelBaggio, both of Tyrone; seven grandchildren: Gwen Miller, Crista Esposti, Meagan Fernandez, Nicolee Wisnewski, Marie DelBaggio, Lyndsay Marshall, and Baylee DelBaggio; and 12 great-grandchildren; one daughter in law: Tammy DelBaggio; two son in laws: Malvin Romano and Donald Miller; and two sister in laws: Linda Ferner DelBaggio, and Marsha Michaels DelBaggio. He was preceded by four children: Deborah Romano, Joyce Miller, Rocco DelBaggio, and Dennis DelBaggio; two grandchildren: Dustin DelBaggio, and Angela Romano; and 10 siblings: Patsy, Eddie,Felix, Benedict, John, George Sr.,Jimmy, and Charlie DelBaggio, Nunzi Duganier, and Mary Hoover.

Rocco attended Tyrone High School. He served bravely and honorably in the US Army during both World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of St. Matthew Church in Tyrone. He was a self employed truck driver and retired in 1998. He was a member of the Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Company, The Moose Lodge, Howard Gardner Legion Post 281, Anderson-Denny VFW Post 4559, and the Sinking Valley Country Club.

He enjoyed golf, and was considered by friends and family to be a handyman. Some of the greatest joys in his life were spending time with family and most of all, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who adore him.

An 11 am mass for Rocco J. DelBaggio Jr. will be held on Monday, February 6, 2023 at St. Matthew Catholic Church with father Jozef Kovacik officiating. Friends will be received on Sunday, February 5, 2023 from 6-8 pm and 10 am until the time of service at the Feller Memorial Home. Interment with military honors will be held following the service at Oak Grove Cemetery.
