Obituary for Robert E. "Bob" Nein Jr.
Robert “Bob” E. Nein, Jr., 76, of Tyrone, passed away at his home surrounded by family on Tuesday, August 2, 2022. He was born in Lewistown on August 3, 1945, the son of the late Robert E. Sr. and Rhoda M. (Nowark) Nein. On October 12, 1968 in Hollidaysburg, he married Jean Carper, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters: Lisa (Mike) Mingle and Rhonda (Chip) Dillon both of Tyrone; three grandchildren: Ryan Adam Meyers of Colorado, Michael C. Mingle, and Ryleigh Dillon both of Tyrone; and his beloved dog, Charlie.
Bob was a 1963 graduate of Tyrone High School. After school he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard where he served his country honorably. Following the Coast Guard he served in the US Army Reserves. He was employed by the Chicago Rivet and Machine Company and after 40 plus years of service retired as a foreman of the plant.
He was a member of the Grazierville United Methodist Church as well as the Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Company, and the Tyrone American Legion Howard Gardner Post 281 where he served as a past commander and was a member of the Tyrone Honor Guard. He also served as a Boy Scout Troop Master at Camp Anderson and was a member of the TAHS Band Boosters.
He enjoyed golfing with his buddies Pete and Freddy and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
An 11 am funeral service for Robert “Bob” E. Nein, Jr. will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc. with Pastor Jeff Holland officiating. Friends will be received on Monday, August 8, 2022, from 4-7 pm as well as on Tuesday, from 10 am until the 11 am service.
