Obituary for Olga "Lucy" Lucille Gensamer (Colt)

Olga Lucille “Lucy” Gensamer June 6, 1927- July 18, 2022

Olga Lucille "Lucy" Gensamer, 95, of Port Matilda, died at Epworth Manor in Tyrone, PA, Monday July 18, 2022. She was born June 6, 1927, in Tyrone. She was the third daughter of the late John R. and Mary Alice (Conser) Colt. On June 15, 1947, she married Richard Jay Gensamer to whom she was married for 57 years.

Lucy was the last of her immediate family, preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Elizabeth Colt and LaRue Boston; a niece Donna Boston, and her cousin Howard Patton, who was like a brother.

Lucy graduated from Tyrone High School in 1945. She worked at Crain Lumber Co. for approximately 35 years as a bookkeeper, she had the most beautiful handwriting. She was an asset to the business with her extensive knowledge of the building industry. Lucy was a faithful member of Port Matilda United Methodist Church, Helping Hands, P.M Lions Club and P.M. Fire Co Ladies Auxiliary. You would find Lucy preparing and serving funeral meals, making donuts, and working the church bazaars. She volunteered at the Port Matilda Carnival for many years. She would be working anywhere from scooping ice cream and snow cones, to making hoagies and fries. Always willing to lend a hand anywhere she was needed, driving her friends to appointments or bingo. Lucy loved camping at the Grange Fair, fishing trips to Canada at her cabin, and spending the winter months in Florida with her friends.

Graveside service will be on Friday, July 29, 2022, at 10:30 am at the Logan Valley Cemetery, 801 East 4th St. Bellwood, PA. Memorial contributions can be made to Port Matilda, United Methodist Church, PO Box 508 Port Matilda, PA 16870
