Obituary for Nellie M. Corneilus (Rupert)

Nellie M. Cornelius, 99, Tyrone, died Saturday at Epworth Manor, Tyrone.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Harry and Wilda (Robinson) Rupert. On Sept. 11, 1940, she married Frank E. Cornelius at Church of the Brethren, and he preceded her in death.

Surviving are a grandson, Mark (Jennifer) Cornelius; two granddaughters: Cierra P. and Sway H. Cornelius; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Cornelius.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry L. Cornelius. She was the last of her immediate family.

In 1974, Nellie retired after working for both Loungeray and L. Grief & Bro. Inc. clothing manufacturers.

She was a member of Tyrone Church of the Good Shepherd. She was a life-member of the Order of the Eastern Star 290 Altoona, OES 288 Tyrone, and Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America Jobel Court 11, and she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Tyrone VFW Anderson-Denny Post 4559.

Nellie enjoyed sewing as well as baking, cooking and camping. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, and from noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, Pastor Eric Shafer officiating. A private interment will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Altoona.
