Mary Geraldine Sprankle, 95 of Tyrone died Wednesday, February 5, 2020. Mary was born on January 17, 1925 in Altoona, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Hostler) Cherry. Mary is survived by children: Karlene Eckley and Helen Shock; grandchildren: Christina Eckley (Bryan Keller), Trisha Moore (Wayne), Jimmy Bywater and Ricky Sprankle (Kathy); great-grandchildren: Brayden Eckley and Bryan Keller Jr.; and one brother: Ivan Cherry of Utah. She is preceded by two husbands: Herbert Markel and Harold Sprankle; and seven brothers and sisters: Jean Reffner (Art), Lucinda Mattern (Jerry), Thelma Filer, Joe Cherry, Ted Cherry, Norman Cherry and Dan Cherry.
Mary was a member of the Bible Baptist Church of Tyrone. She was employed by Epworth Manor and worked in hospitality. She was also self employed as a housekeeper.
Mary enjoyed going to church, reading her Bible and watching Christian programing. She also liked to sew, draw, cook, bake. She was a wonderful homemaker and was involved in foster care.
Friends will be received on Monday, February 10, 2020 from 10 am - 12 pm at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc. A Noon funeral service for Mary Geraldine Sprankle will be held on Monday, February 10, 2020 at the funeral home with Pastor Ken Patterson officiating. Private interment at Blair Memorial to follow.
