Mary Cathryn Snyder Keller, 89, Sinking Valley, died Saturday September 29, 2018.
She was born February 19, 1929 in Bakers Summit, Bedford County, daughter of the late Jay T. and Elsie B. (Wineland) Snyder. On Dec. 16, 1951, she married Walter N. Keller of Sinking Valley. He preceded her in death on June 23, 1991.
Surviving are four children: W. Jay Keller (Sally) of Sinking Valley; Barbara K. Scandrol (Don) of Pittsburgh; James L. Keller (Heidi) of Altoona and John A. Keller of Sinking Valley; six grandchildren: Jessica, Reed, Hollie, Libby and Benjamin Keller and Jesse Lopez; two great-grandchildren: Heath Keller and Olivia Lopez; six stepgrandchildren: Matthew and Paula Scandrol, Tyler Ginter and Justin, Blake and Garrett Link; and four stepgreat-grandchildren: Rocco, Georgia, Harrison and Brody.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Ray E. Snyder of Bakers Summit; and a daughter-in-law, Lori.
Mary was a 1947 graduate of Replogle High School in New Enterprise and was the class valedictorian. She was a lifelong farmer. She was born on a dairy farm in Bakers Summit and in her adult life purchased a farm with her husband in Sinking Valley. She enjoyed barn work and feeding and taking care of the calves. She was a lifetime member of the Holsinger Church of the Brethren in Bakers Summit, but regularly attended Sinking Valley Presbyterian Church during her marriage.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018, at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone. Interment will be made at the Arch Spring Cemetery following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holsinger Church of the Brethren, 2737 Lafayette Road, New Enterprise, PA 16664.
