Obituary for Mary Regina Dixon

Mary Regina Dixon, age 87, of Tyrone died Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Epworth Manor. She was born June 11, 1928 in Altoona, the daughter of Elmer and Lorretta Grey Koontz. On September 5, 1947 in Tyrone she was married to Curtis M. Dixon who preceded her in death October 2, 2015. She is survived by three children – James G. (Joan) Dixon, Williamsport, MD, Eileen Dixon, Johnstown and Clinton (Virginia) Dixon, Brunswick, MD, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and one brother Michael (Carrol) Koontz, Baltimore, MD. She was preceded by a sister Eileen Koontz.
Mrs. Dixon was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church and of C.D.A., Court St. Rita #523. She was a graduate of Altoona High School Class of 1946. For many years Jean had been the local morning news anchor at WTRN Radio in Tyrone. She was a member of the Bald Eagle Grange and enjoyed fishing. She loved to sing with the St. Matthew’s Church choir, had a beautiful voice and had recorded several musical numbers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 12 noon at St. Matthew’s Church with Father Jozef Kovacik as celebrant. Burial will be in Bald Eagle Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. There will be no public visitation.
