Miss Mary C. Dannaway, age 95, of Tyrone and a guest at Epworth Manor, died Sunday, February 28, 2016. She was born June 17, 1920 in Altoona, the daughter of Charles and Rose Metry Dannaway. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Aleck, Abraham, Fred, Samuel and George Dannaway, 1 sister, Salema Phillinger and is the last of her immediate family.
While growing up, Mary enjoyed swimming, walking and riding her bicycle with her girlfriends. Mary also enjoyed traveling with her sister and friends and went to Italy and to Hawaii as well as many other eastern coast states. Mary was a graduate of Tyrone Area High School in 1940 and went on to work as a trimmer at Reliance which later became Big Yank.
Funeral service for Miss Mary Dannaway will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:00 AM with reverend Norman Huff officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday March 1, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM and on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM service with interment to follow at Eastlawn Cemetery, Tyrone. Arrangements are being handled by the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc.
