Obituary for Marjorie Belle Harpster

Mrs. Marjorie Belle Harpster, “Sis”, of 911 Green Ave Tower, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 16, 2020, following a brief illness. She was 97 years old.
Born in Sinking Valley, Pennsylvania, on May 27, 1923, the daughter of Austin Roller Fleck and Edna Belle (Wertz) Fleck. On November 26, 1941 she married the Roy W. Harpster, Sr. who preceded her in death on March 30, 1995.
Surviving are two sons: Roy (Dorothy) of Altoona, and Albert (Carmen) of Sinking Valley; six grandchildren: Jeffrey, Jason, Eric, Brian, Andrew Harpster and Jennel (Harpster) Miller; seven great grandchildren: Brandon and Cody Harpster, Jayce and Jacob Miller, and Kaylee, Samantha and Sidney Harpster; and one brother: A. Wayne (Jeanne) Fleck of Sinking Valley. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Sheldon of Sinking Valley and Robert of Port Allegheny; and a sister Edith Magill of Sinking Valley.
Marjorie was a 1941 graduate of Tyrone High School. She was a lifetime member of Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Sinking Valley.
She was employed at Warnaco Sportswear from 1959 to 1985 and was a member of the Sinking Valley Grange # 484, AARP, and the VFW Auxiliary of Tyrone. In her later years, she volunteered for Meals on Wheels and enjoyed talking on the phone and visiting her family.
An outdoor memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 29th, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sinking Valley. The time of the outdoor memorial service will be announced at a later date.
