Obituary for Marian Jane Hall (Light)

Marian Jane Hall, 94, of Alexandria, passed away on Friday April 5, 2024. Born on August 13, 1929 in Tyrone, daughter of late Jesse James and Love (Kennedy) Light. On March 16, 1947, at the Evangelical United Brethren Church, Tyrone, she married William "Bill" E. Hall, who preceded her in death on July 11, 2001.
Surviving are her children, Margie E. Patterson of Tyrone, Mrs. Bethany K. Yocum (Timothy) of Alexandria, William E. Hall Jr. (Rachel) of Alexandria, Lovey M. Stromberg of Tucson Arizona, Paul J. Hall of Petersburg, and Sean W. Hall of Alexandria; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, William “Bill” Light of Georgia and Charles Light of South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Bobbi Sabrina DeVore in 2008; siblings, Paul Light, who was killed in action in Italy in May of 1944, Robert Light, Leonard Light, Melvin Light, and Anna Pauline Mckinney.
Marian enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and later in life her great-grandchildren. She was the happiest when she had a baby on her lap. She also enjoyed gardening, puzzles, flower arranging, family get-togethers and catching the occasional fish. Marian was a talented artist as well as a creative seamstress making many wedding, formal, prom and dance dresses.
She was well known as a foster mom to many. It was certainly a passion of hers to help and take care of all children.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Tuesday April 9, 2024 from 6-8pm at Feller Memorial Home. On Wednesday April 10, 2024 there will be a viewing from 10-11am with a service to follow at Feller with Pastor Lou Zannino officiating. Internment will be at Baughman Cemetery.
