Obituary for Margaret Birely
Margaret "Peggy" A. Birely (Settle), 88, of Tyrone, and resided in Levittown, PA, for many years, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022. She was born on May 2, 1934 in Altoona, daughter of the late Kenneth and Elmira Settle (Ryan). She was preceded in death by her loving husband Ronald E. Birely in 1971.
Peggy is survived by her daughters, Gwen McAllister and husband, Robert, Sharon Robertson and husband Don, Diane Cameron; son-in-law Bruce Slager Sr.; grandchildren, Bruce Slager Jr., Ryan Slager and spouse Allison, Meghan McAllister and fiancé Samuel Mohran, Samantha McAllister and fiancé Jason Beckwith, Kenneth Robertson and spouse Julie, Margaret Besanko and husband Thomas, Ronald Bartlett, Olivia Cameron; great grandchildren, Sophia, Jayce, Jack, Bella, George, Jayden, Ty, Giovanna, Cyrus; brothers, William and wife Anita, Dennis and Donald Settle; sisters, Joyce Bloom, Patricia Mattzozza and Cynthia Giles and husband Jack; sister-in-law Bonnie Baumgardner along with her children and grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband, she is preceded by, her daughter Ronda Slager; partner of many years Arthur Bennett; brothers, Gerald Settle and his wife Mary, John Settle and his wife Beverly, and her sister Carol Snyder.
She graduated from Altoona High in 1952. Peggy was a loving mother who loved spending time with her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping, eating lunch out, and a good cup of coffee. Peggy was a supportive family member who was often helping others in need. She was generous and kind hearted to her family and friends, and an ideal example to others. She will be missed greatly.
A 4:00 pm service for Margaret A. Birely will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Feller Memorial Home. Friends will be received Thursday, December 22, 2022, at the Feller Memorial Home from 3-4 pm. Private interment will be held at a later date.
